Hamill Galleries is an art gallery located in Boston, specializing in African and eclectic art.

The owner, who considers herself an alien process and Oakland Raiders fan, wanted a website for regular people to learn about and love art. The opposite of a musty museum – galaxies away from the stuffy world of art critics.

Why?

Because she wants people to decide if they like a piece of art or not.

Old Art in a New Home

The new website coincided with a move to Hamill’s new location, intentionally located in a shopping mall.

And just like the apparent randomness of an art gallery in a shopping mall, the website is centered around a massive antique carnival wheel. Spin it and discover a random category of art to begin your journey into a world where you determine what art is.

Do you like it? Or not?

That’s the point: Art is everywhere around us, it’s simply a matter of being open to embracing the randomness of discovering and determining art on your own terms.
