One of the four tenets of Franciscanism is joyful celebration. Quite the contrast to the general perception of dour denial associated with brown robed friars.
A trampoline, Brother Ralph and a 45 minutes photo shoot and we had our primary arresting image: an animated jumping friar with a variety of delightful and joy-filled expressions.
The surprise of a happy friar jumping up and down with enthusiasm did exactly what we expected: It opened the door to talk about Franciscanism with prospective students and led to a 23% increase in enrollment. And claimed a position among sister colleges and universities as the cool Franciscan university.
